I'm finally going on vacation!!! I'm taking a well needed break for the next four days. Doesn't this picture look lovely?? Actually I'm going on a very hectic trip to Pennsylvania, Virginia, and back to New York in the span of four days. Should be interesting. I'm predicting I'm going to come back even more exhausted than i am now. Ah well, for now I'll enjoy looking at that picture and pretend I'm going there.
Something to think about while I'm away:
- an average funeral costs $7,000
- John Paul II's funeral cost $9 million
YET,
- 1.2 billion people live on less than $1 a day
- 2.8 billion people live on less than $2 a day
How is this right?

Have fun. I don't call that 'vacations' i call that holydays. Maybe because I was born in Europe :)
For me vacations are like 2 weeks off.
In France I was on vacations 4 months in a year. That was sweet and it was paid for by the french government. Here in the US I have only 5 days off snif snif.

Which probably hassomething to do with unemployment being over 20%, the country about to become Muslim, and the inability of the French to defend their own country for the entire 20th century.
But I could be wrong....

betmo - thanks!! sorry, was all I could think of. :)
obob - emphasis on OTHER. lol. still alive over here, just got home.
politiques USA - should have said that sooner!! I could have fit you right in! haha.
I could really use a 2 week vacation right now. so, 1/3 of the year you were on vacation and still getting paid? lucky! I should move to france. :)
wait, five days off a year in US? wow that stinks. I don't have that much time off, but I think it's more than 5 days.
robert - don't be so negative!! after all america is filled with a bunch of neurotic, overworked caffeine-addicts. maybe that's just new york though. in penn and virginia people are actually calm. it's amazing. they let people walk across the street, you don't have to race the cars. rush hour doesn't involve non-stop honking and cursing. whole other world. then again, maybe it's just me...
scie-kid - thanks!! you have fun in penn too!!

I can say we Virginian's are calm - at least outside of the beltway. Inside the beltway is currently occupied territory if you catch my meaning.
Meanwhile...40+ million Americans are below the poverty line and our taxes pay more to bury those freshly executed from death row than to feed the poor.
Thanks for stopping by ellie - I like your blog and will add you to my list - and have fun in Virginny!
