I'm back!!! have they blown up the world yet?!

well, they seem to have blown up quite a bit. while I was away I got a chance to watch anderson cooper 360 on CNN and I saw an interview with a Lebanese man who has a website showing footage from inside lebanon of bombings that have occurred. It provides an inside account of what's going on in lebanon.

there is an old irish song that seems to depict what's going on very well. the english can be compared to israel and america. (full lyrics here.)

"And you dare to call me a terrorist
while you looked down your gun
When I think of all the deeds that you had done
You had plundered many nations divided many lands
You had terrorised their peoples you ruled with an iron hand.
And you brought this reign of terror to my land"

Who are the real terrorists?

Very interesting insight from that video. I've avoided the Israel/Lebanon subject because everyone else has been blogging on it. But I'm not sure I'll be able to hold off the rest of the week. I just updated, so I have 4 days left to get worked up.

Goes to show how much the media is a propaganda tool for the U.S. and our allies.

beltway - glad you like. yes, everyone has been posting on it but I just couldn't resist. also I think that site is very powerful and more people need to see it. the media is definately a propaganda tool. i'm just surprised they haven't shut down that site yet.

robert - as betmo said...why do you support israel? and how is blowing up over 300 innocent lebanese people defending their country? I found the stats before and can't remember them exactly but something like 95% of their bridges are destroyed and 90% of highways. how is that right? how can that be justified?

betmo - thanks!! please don't get arrested, you would be missed very much!!

I don't support Israel and I do not support Lebanon. Israel uses the same tactics it cries home to mama about. The Lebanese Government is to weak to root out the problem in their own land.

The real victims are the innocents on both sides, suffering and dying everyday - While the powers that be have the luxury of taking their world for granted.

  • At 7/25/2006 08:50:00 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Ellie, of course it can be justified. They are defending their country. What are they supposed to do, jsut sit back and let Hezbollah launch all 13,000 rockets and kill Israelis, but not respond?

Israel has conceded three times since 2000, and the violence against them continues. Google the Hamas charter, and read where their goal is to "obliterate Israel."

Yes, it is sad that Lebanese civilians are being killed. But Hezbollah picked this fight, and shouldn't complain because they picked on someone bigger than they are.

You hit it Ellie, there are innocents dying on both sides. That is why Israel needs to puch on and find a final solution to this problem. That solution is to eliminate the threat as often as possible.

Oh it won't be one big bang. It is a series of bangs. The Bush Regime and the Sharonists planned this.

This is just what they want.

Peace. It is possible. Just not with these sick bastards in power.

    Right. It is Bush's fault.

There has been war in the region since 66 B.C. Could you please provide the "Bush lied, kids died" timeline that begins there? I seem to have misplaced my copy.

Read again Robert -"Bush Regime". He is just a puppet. Reading comprehension must not be one of your strong points.

    Here's your copy

Before you read the Neo-Con Manifesto what you need to do is learn History as it happened and not as you were taught.

Here is a movie that is a good start.ALL THE SHAHS MEN

I also see by a peruse of your blog that the 1st thing you do is watch FOX NEWS. Your page also automatically switches one to the FOX NEWS page.
Now that is what I call a fan. In the original true sense of the word.

Peace. It is possible.Just not with the sick bastards who are in power now.

Human, first of all, stop smoking whatever you are smoking. Supoprting another country and hoping that they defeat the US is just pathetic and disgusting.

I have no idea about the FoxNews redirect. I can't fix it, and blogger is useless. I am still working on it.

Peace is not the absence of violence.

Robert, I have to agree with human on this. as for Peace is not the absence of violence. then what is it? I quote, from dictionary.com "Peace - The absence of war or other hostilities." you can go to the site and check it out yourself.

yes and please PLEASE get that Fox redirect fixed. muchoooo annoying.

human - you're so right. he is just a puppet. I saw him yesterday at his press conference with tony blair. I don't know if it's just me but he seemed to have no clue what he was talking about, and I'm sure he didn't have a clue waht he was talking about. :)

truth-pain - good to see you back!!! everything's pretty much the same...overworked and sleep deprived as usual. :)

obob - politicos tend to exploit the media. however in this country it seems to be exploited toward the right and we hardly ever hear the views of the left on tv. what happened to "fair and balanced"? isn't taht some news stations logo? it's kind of ironic that the most conservative news out there has that logo. (one of the many reasons it annoys me so much when Robert's blog switches to fox news)

Hi Ellie...Using the absurd leftwing definitions of torture, I can see why a mandated FoxNews redirect is problematic.

I believe it to be fixed, so you are safe now. Even fair and balance is annoying when you can't get away from it!

I know the definition of peace from the dictionary. A little more philosophically, it isn't peace when there is no certainty of it. Just because there is no "at the moment artillery raining down on me" doesn't mean that I don't live in fear of my children being killed at any moment.

If you are walking down a dark street, and are assaulted by a thug, are you happy with a ceaser fire from him, or would you prefer that the police lock him up so you are free to walk down the street any time you wish?

I see what you're saying, but I don't think the way to peace is all of the violence we have at present. I think this violence is tearing apart lebanon and hurting many innocent people. What is Israel's plan? to kill all of lebanon and every member of hezbollah and then they can have peace?

I think peace is the absence of violence. I think their shoudl be a cease fire and they should talk about what is going on. The israeli offensive is making innocent lebanese people think of supporting hezbollah because of what israel is doing to their country. so, they are causing more potential violence rather than curing it. I've always been in favor of peaceful negotiations over any form of violence. true, violence sends a more clear message but at negotiations everything can be put on the table and the violence can stop.

as for "fair and balanced" i was being sarcastic. i think fox is extremely conservative. glad to hear you have that redirect fixed. (it was annoying...not torture) :)

Hezbollah unlike OLP from Palestine is not a foreign activist group in Lebanon although they are directly financed by Iran in military support and financed occasionally by Syria.

Ideological, political, geopolitical and religious convictions should be avoided for deeper truth in the unfolding events. I honestly blame the MSM for brainwashing people. At a political level, if you think that Hamas for example is a terrorist organization, but with political influence since they have been elected by people, then you should seriously question the actions of President Bush in Iraq, especially since the US is not exactly a Democracy but a Republic.

What is happening in Lebanon, and lessons learned from the sectarian conflict in Iraq, will only reinforce more support for Hezbollah (the party of God) at a political level, even inside the christian population in Lebanon, that does not even represent 40% of the Lebanon population.

There is obviously a different approach between Condie Rice and the European Union. Within 2 weeks, if the conflict does not end in a ceasefire, then I predict an intervention outside the UN influence from the European Rapid Reaction Forces inside southern Lebanon. Europeans have the military power to do such actions, and they are not aligned on the policy of the Bush administration. In Lebanon, there is no oil, there is only human life, and it would be the only tool to prevent Israel from killing innocent people. I just can't beleive that your chimp is supporting warcrimes. I can't even beleive that people in this thread are supporting warcrimes as well.

  • At 7/30/2006 08:55:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

The EU will not sare intervene in Lebanon with a military force outside of the UN. Please, most of the EU can't even defend itself, much less take on the US, who would and can respond to a military incursion. Not that this will happen, but it seems like a growing problem that European countries support terrorist organizations who oppose the US, but take litle action against them in their own interests.

I have not heard a single one of you spend half the words denouncing Hezbollah for its terror attacks that you have spent on bashing Israel. Innocent people die...Ellie, you have got to get over that. This isn't a girl scout meeting, or a PETA convention. It is sad, but a reality. I have seen dozens of people splattered across the pavement in traffic accidents, but I don't espouse going back to horses and buggies.

Warcrimes....poppycock. Self defense is not a crime. You are acting like Israel is specifically targeting daycare centere like....oh, like Hamas and Hezbollah? You know, those people who use 13 year old girls to blow up buses full of women and children?

Ellie, what good would "peaceful discussion" accomplish? What are the things you would say that haven't been said over the past 50 years? Sorry to tell you, we can't all get along. I personally prefer that the terrorists die at every opportunity.

I posted most of this at Robert's site already:

I'll admitt that Hezbollah really is receiving passive civilian support in their operations. How much of that passive civilian support is actually willing support though?

Really, give me a link or two so I can better educate myself to formulate a more leftist response, and make it seem like I'm trying to irritate someone ;)

I rather believe that, had someone taken the time to help the Lebanese Government strengthen their role as rulers, it would have been far easier and less violent to root out and put an end to Hezbollah.

This passive support is partially strong arm tactics by Hezbollah and part actual civilian support. But there is another part I haven't heard anyone mention yet - that Hezbollah provides the only government services for that section of the population/country while the Lebanese Government, in it's current weakened state is providing nothing.

If your government suddenly left you out to dry, and your only option for putting food on your table or seeking urgent health care for your family came from some other less-than-sparkling source - what would you do?

  • At 7/31/2006 08:22:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

Actually, I did mention that a couple of times...Hezbollah has three wings to the group. Military, political, and social. The social wing is the one that gives money and takes care of communities. Hamas has a similar model, and that is a large reason why they both have been elected.

I may provide a post about this in a little more depth. Don't kid yourself...there is as much ideological passive support as there is any other.

Your curse of justice doesnt scare me froggie. My Marines saved France twice last century. I think I can handle it.

Ellie, there is no good that comes from terror organizations. I don't find them the least bit desireable, but intellectually and objectively I can analyze them and see the model they have used for "success" within their context of the concept.

They support Hezbollah because it is the only way to defend against Israel? You have it totally backwards. If you instigate the violence, then you have no claim to self defense.

When I was a cop, and we chased someone through the streets and caught them, we asked them why they were running. I heard so many times "Why are you chasing me?" It can't be a chase if no one starts running away, and it can't be defense if you launch the first rocket.

Hezbollah doesn't exist to benefit anyone, just to carry out an extreme agenda.
