I found this here.

Although this was written in late 2002, pre Iraq invasion, it still applies today.
"It was always clear, and it is becoming even clearer, that this [looking for WMDs in Iraq] is not really about doing away with Saddam's weapons of mass destruction, however threatening. It is about removing Saddam from power. The Americans want to send United Nations inspectors with broad powers into Iraq, but not to track down and destroy arms storage sites and production facilities. Rather, they are looking for an excuse to attack."

Now, Bush is under fire for the reason for the invasion of Iraq (from here):

"[Keith] Olbermann [from MSNBC] played two current quotes to mock President Bush: "First, just if I might correct a misperception. I don't think we ever said, at least I know I didn't say, that there was a direct connection between the September 11th and Saddam Hussein. We did say that he was the state sponsor of terror." A second Bush soundbite followed up the first clip: "I was very careful never to say that Saddam Hussein ordered the attacks on America."
Olberman has no tape to show Bush in fact saying that Hussein knew of or plotted 9/11, because there is none.
"His principal argument was by counting proximity of words in Presidential speeches, with no regard to the context. Bush used the words "Iraq" and "Al Qaeda" or "Saddam" and "9/11" within ten or twenty words of each other X number of times, so how can Bush claim he wasn't saying that?" Although this website claims that "This argument is idiotic on the face of it." I think its actually a pretty good argument.
Al Franken makes a similar argument in his book The Truth. He argues that members of the Bush administration used the words Saddam and Osama and 9/11 and Iraq together frequently. So frequently, that by the time the Republican National Convention rolled around, the whole focus was on Iraq. This is shown in his statistics on Word Frequency in Major Republican National Convention Speeches, (this is on page 56...if you love the book as much as I do) Bush mentions Saddam/Iraq 18 times, terror(ism/ists) 16 times, 9/11 4 times, and Osama 0 times. The total count for all the speakers mentioned it this count (McCain, Giuliani, Laura Bush, Schwarzenegger, Cheney, Zell Miller, George Pataki, and Bush) Saddam/Iraq was mentioned 62 times, terror(ism/ists) 79 times, 9/11 mentioned 37 times, and Osama mentioned ONCE. Now, okay don't get me wrong here, terrorism is bad...and Saddam did kill a lot of people, but we were attacked by OSAMA ON 9/11. Iraq did nothing!!! and Bush, now claiming that he never said they were related, is left without a reason for invading a country that didn't attack us. and many more people are asking: why the hell are we in Iraq??

Funny Pics

Did Cheney get too much attention from the media for the shooting incident?? Personally I don't think it was overkill. It's about time we started hearing something negative about this administration. Did you notice how none of the reporters said "Cheney shot someone". They said that Cheney "peppered someone with birdshot"...or my favorite..."He carried a load of birdshot". and when cheney went to give an interview about it...who did he talk to but Britt Hume from Fox Five. And, big surprise, there were no hard questions.

Were other president's made fun of as much as Bush is? Personally i think this stuff is hilarious, but its a little pathetic that we're comparing our commander in chief to a gorilla.

I found this here and thought it was very interesting.

Describe Bush in One Word
"Incompetent," "idiot" and "liar" were one-word descriptions of President Bush by a majority of Americans, a new survey found. Mr. Bush is also seen as being more "out of touch" than President Reagan. What would be your one-word description of President Bush?
President Bush has been losing the support of his core constituents, according to opinion polls released this month. The Pew Research Center in its poll asked respondents to use one word to describe President Bush. The results were startling.
The most frequently used word was "incompetent," followed by "good," "idiot," "liar," "Christian," "honest" and "arrogant."
Overall, only 28 percent of respondents used positive words like "good, Christian and honest," while 48 percent used negative words such as "incompetent, idiot and liar." One in 10 used neutral words, "O.K., president, conservative" and others.
The White House has been struggling to rebuild its image after damaging corruption scandals, slow progress in Iraq, the failed Dubai port deal, secret eavesdropping program, slow response to Katrina and the handling of Mr. Cheney's hunting accident.
In the same survey, 56 percent of Americans said President Bush is "out of touch with what is going on in the government." Only 36 percent said he is "in touch." In 1987, 47 percent of Americans thought President Reagan was "out of touch."
What would be your one-word description of President Bush?

Civil War

Is Iraq headed for civil war? and what should we do about it?

These are two questions on many people's minds right now. After the Sunni's blew up a Shiite mosque that was built more than a thousand years ago, warfare broke out as the Shiite's retaliated. Worse case scenario is that all of the Middle East takes sides with either the Shiites or the Sunni's and the whole region breaks out into chaos. Turkey and Saudi Arabia are two of the countries predicted to invade. The Shiites were under the Sunni leader Saddam Hussein for so long and when the Americans took Saddam out of power, the Shiites were the majority and had the most power over everything. The Sunni's felt threatened and struck back by blowing up the mosque. When George W. Bush Sr. invaded Iraq in Persian Gulf War I he made sure he didn't take Baghdad because he knew the whole region would most likely erupt into civil war. American citizens have long been calling for the removal of our troops from Iraq. Unfortunately it has fallen on deaf ears. Bush keeps saying that he cannot set a date on when the troops will be removed, and with this new violence, he may make them stay there longer to prevent more violence. However, our military commanders seem to believe that there's more going on over there than the violence. So, why aren't we hearing about it?? and why can't our troops come home?? Even though I believe Iraq was one of the worst mistakes this country has ever made, I don't see how we can just leave it a warring state. We may even be forced to break it up into three separate nations: the Sunni's, the Shiites, and the Kurds. My hope is that the top leaders of the Sunni's and the Shiites, and maybe even the Kurds get together and decide not to go to war, and to side by side peacefully.
